Windsurfing: Westward Ho! Wind Direction: sw Wind Stength: f5 Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: Max Speed: Distance Covered:
After a 12hr night shift i met up with Stu who drove us down.
Had to sit about for a bit drinking coffee waiting for the tide drop.Once
it did it looked reasonable 5m weather with cross on & big out the back.
Andy a local turned up as we were about to hit the water, but there was no
one else about(but he was armed with a camera). On the way out, plenty of
ramps for jumping & gybing on & easy, on the way in though with the tidal
push's? it was hard to stay up wind getting pushed sideways by the strengh
of the sea.
Stu got off for a bit after pulling his shoulder, & the wind started
getting a bit holey, always in front of a big 1,i had a few wallow gybes in
front of some big faces, 1 time floating clew 1st & getting picked up by a
big wave right to the top just as it broke & dropping/falling the down the
face as it broke & as the sail powered up i managed to flip it & ride to
white water, its the heart in the mouth moments like that that make
windsurfing so great & why i love it...
We had a good couple of hrs sailing with very varible conditions. But i had
to call it day when avoiding a kitters lines (Airspace) & catching the fin
on the bottom & getting catapulted, resulting in a broken harness & broken
nose on the board, i was on starboard tack & maybe next time i wont be
getting out of the way
